Powerlifting is without doubt one of the weightlifting sports alongside Olympic lifting and is predominantly found in western tradition though is carried out world wide.

In contrast to Olympic lifting and bodybuilding energylifting isn't a well-known type of weightlifting so many individuals don't carry a full understanding of the sport. Powerlifting competitions centre on three workouts only; these are the deadlift, bench press and squat.
