The Webley & Scott Brass Mark 3 Flare Gun is a English Military flare pistol which was issued and used during the final years of World War 1. It was adopted in 1911 and improved on the Mark 2 which was used in 1905. It had a brass tilt down break open loading mechanism and a single action lockwork unlike the Mark 1 and 2 which was made of steel. These where created as a means of communication as line telephones where in their infancy and was not widely available to the public.
